Recently I watched a documentary film
Jiro Dreams of Sushi reluctantly (I was thinking that it was going to be boooooring,,) However, it turned that I was wrong, it is actually pretty good and interesting. It is about this 89 years old Sushi Master - Jiro Ono's pursuit of perfect sushi. The film largely evolves around his daily life in his sushi restaurant - Sukiyabashi Jiro. This 3 Michelin starred restaurant is located in Ginza and only has 10 seats. The menu has one item - the omakase course, 20 pieces of sushi, being served one at a time. The price starts from 30,000 yen (vary according to sushi and payment by cash only). The guest is expected to finish the course in approximately 30min, keeping up with the chef 's pace in making the next piece of sushi so that the sushi can be consumed in the freshest stage.

The part in the film that leaves the deepest impression is where they massage the octopus for a good 50min before using it for sushi! In any case, I am greatly inspired and I have started learning to make sushi after the show. Proud to say that I did make some good progress... though it is highly unlikely that I will massage my octopus :p
I do hope that I will have an opportunity to dine at Sukiyabashi Jiro one day. Maybe it is time to polish up my lousy Japanese language (apparently they don't accept your reservation if you don't speak the language!)
